The next random photo of random things is this stunning image "Breathless," by Sergio Cabezas, via Creative Commons/Flickr. (His photography is amazing and I strongly recommend you check it out.) The cherry blossoms, black hair, red sweater and lips, and pale blue sky serve as inspiration for today's project, a rather glam living room concept.
As I described last week, I like to find a photo and try to come up with furnishings and decor inspired by the image. Spring is drawing near -- the daffodils are already up in my yard in Georgia! So this week's random photo of random things is "Crocus," by Franklin Hunter, via Creative Commons/Flickr. Let's see what inspiration I can get from this one! This time, I'm furnishing a dining room. The resulting items are a bit glam, a bit 70s, a bit mid-century... and a lot of spring color! (I may receive an affiliate commission from these links.)
Design inspiration can come from many places. I like to use photos, sometimes. I don't mean photos of great interior design, though of course, that's inspiring too. No, I mean random photos of random things. I find a photo and try to come up with furnishings and decor inspired by the image. Here's one: "Vespa s50," by dawarwickphotography, via Creative Commons/Flickr. I liked the colors -- blue, cream, orange, and black -- and thought they'd make a fun design exercise. The blue is basically Classic Blue (Pantone's 2020 color of the year). Here's the resulting concept board, with sources following: (Disclosure: I may receive affiliate commissions from some of these sources.)
